Spider-Man Brand New Day shooting location: UK cities that doubled as New York for Tom Holland’s film

Instead of extensively filming in New York, the production team recreated the city’s streets, waterfronts and interiors in carefully selected UK locations.

Glasgow, Scotland
Glasgow in Scotland was one of the major shooting locations for . Several areas of the Scottish city were redesigned to resemble Manhattan for high-octane chase sequences featuring Spider-Man and Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. The city’s architecture and urban layout made it an ideal substitute for New York’s busy streets.
Dorchester, Dorset
The Marvel movie was also filmed in the historic town of Dorchester in Dorset. The production team transformed Dorchester Prison into the setting for a major sequence featuring Spider-Man and members of the criminal organisation known as The Hand.
The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Kent
The film’s waterfront sequences were shot in the iconic Historic Dockyard Chatham in Kent. The scenes featuring The Punisher’s hideout was filmed at Turks Boatyard, where the former Royal Navy dockyard provided an authentic industrial setting that doubled as a New York harbour location.

Pinewood Studios, England
The Pinewood Studios in England also played a significant part in Spider: Man: Brand New Day. The studio handles several indoor sequences, large-scale sets and visual effects-heavy scenes that required controlled filming environment.
Why was the UK chosen for filming?
The makers chose United Kingdom as their shooting location as it allowed the filmmakers to recreate the look and atmosphere of New York while taking advantage of the UK’s diverse architecture, production facilities, and experienced film crew.
