India at Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 HIGHLIGHTS, Day 8: India’s Lovepreet Singh won a silver medal in the men’s +110kg weightlifting event on Day 8 of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026. Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Samardeep Singh Gill finished fifth and seventh respectively in the men’s shot put final.

After an injury-hit season, the Olympic medallist will aim to clinch the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
He finished in the fifth position in the men’s javelin throw qualifiers to advance to the final. The other two Indians in the competition, Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh, also qualified for the final. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem advanced with a seventh-place finish, while Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage took the top spot with an 82.84m throw. Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran have also advanced to the men’s triple jump final.
