CEC ‘Public Impeachment’ Bid Put Off; Amit Shah Throws Down Challenge: Govt Ready for Special Session
With about two hours to go until the ‘Public Impeachment’ of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar begins, the Congress party has deferred the session to Saturday, October 3, a day before the opposition bloc’s rally in Ramlila Ground against the CEC and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the sources said.

Party sources said that they had decided to defer the program due to the rains in Delhi. The LoP Rahul Gandhi would be holding a press conference later during the day.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the state executive meeting at Lucknow, asked the opposition parties to stop blaming the empire after losing the match. He said the government was ready to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss all the issues they were trying to raise on the streets. He challenged them to come to Parliament, which is the correct forum to discuss issues like impeachment. Theatrics like mock parliament would be of no use he felt.
The BJP meeting is being attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State President Pankaj Chaudhary, State General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh, State in charge Vinod Tawde, and Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.
It may be recalled that INDIA bloc leaders had met on Thursday to give the final shape to the proceedings, which were to be held at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence as a symbolic protest over the “vote chori” issue after the authorities failed to give permission for the event at Constitution Club or at Talkatora Stadium.
