Anil Kapoor, Rohit Sharma appreciate ‘Doosra’ for its emotional narrative with cricket

Filmmaker Abhinay Deo’s new film Doosra has been receiving positive feedback for its emotional narrative, which captures the magic of cricket history. It is based on India’s unforgettable NatWest Final win against England in 2002 and released to theatres on October 23.

Anil Kapoor and Rohit Sharma have given praise to the film’s trailer, which takes fans back to the historic win which filled Indian cricket fans with confidence. The cricket star (aged 15 at the time) noted how important the team’s dramatic turnaround was and how they played fearlessly.

The film links the iconic shirt-flipping moment by Sourav Ganguly at Lord’s to Tara, a young girl who grew up in a conservative home. Inspired by the bold move by the cricketer, Tara finds the courage to be a maverick in her life.

‘It’s about individual liberation,’ Abhinay Deo said of the story. Producer Masha Sajdeh added ‘we hope it will inspire people to break free from societal norms’.

The film features Plabita Borthakur, Ankur Vikal, Samidha Guru, Tvisha Seema and Krishna Gokani. It has been produced by Masha Sajdeh and Rohan Sajdeh. Neeta Shah is a co-producer. Original music was composed by Ram Sampat.
