Deepinder Goyal’s Temple wearable pre-orders open November 1: What is it and how does it work?

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has announced that pre-orders for his experimental health wearable, Temple, will begin on November 1, 2026. The small device, worn on the side of the head, is designed to monitor changes linked to blood flow in the brain. Goyal confirmed the booking date on X, bringing the unusual wearable closer to its first commercial release.

“The wait is over,” Goyal wrote. “Temple Batch 01 pre orders open November 1. Each @temple is hand-made to order and delivered to you within three months of your purchase.” The announcement confirms that every device in the first batch will be manufactured against individual orders. Temple has attracted attention in recent months after Goyal was spotted wearing the gadget during public appearances and podcasts.

What is Temple wearable?

Temple is an experimental health-tracking device developed by Goyal’s startup. It sits against the skin near the temple, between the forehead and ear.

The device aims to track changes associated with cerebral blood flow, which refers to blood circulation in the brain.

Unlike a typical smartwatch that measures steps, heart rate and exercise, Temple focuses on signals that its developers believe could provide information about the body’s physical strain and recovery.

How does Deepinder Goyal’s Temple work?

Temple uses optical sensors based on photoplethysmography (PPG), a technology already found in several smartwatches.

These sensors shine light into the skin and measure changes in the reflected light caused by blood moving through nearby vessels.

Temple uses this information to generate two measurements:

  • BrainFlow: A reading intended to track changes associated with blood flow near the brain.
  • Entropy: A score ranging from 1 to 250 that the company says reflects physical strain and recovery.

According to Goyal, factors such as sleep, exercise, stress and caffeine consumption can influence the Entropy score.

These measurements are experimental. Independent clinical evidence has yet to establish whether Temple can reliably assess blood flow throughout the brain or identify medical conditions.

Temple wearable price, colours and availability

Temple will initially be available in six colours, including limited-edition options called Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk.

The company has not announced an official selling price. Earlier reports suggested a possible price of around $1,000, or approximately ₹88,000, but this remains unconfirmed.

The wearable attaches to the skin using replaceable adhesive grips.

Customers who pre-order on November 1 can expect delivery within three months of purchase, according to Goyal’s latest announcement.

Can Temple monitor brain health?

Temple is being developed as a wellness and research device. It is not intended to diagnose neurological disorders or replace medical examinations.

Its proposed ability to track physical strain using measurements taken near the temple will require further independent scientific testing.

The November 1 pre-order opening will mark Temple’s first major step towards reaching consumers.
