GTA 6 pre-orders reportedly hit $630 million, with PS5 taking 74%

GTA6: Grand Theft Auto VI has reportedly crossed 6.45 million digital pre-orders, generating about $630 million before release, according to estimates from market-intelligence firm Sensor Tower. The figures are not sales numbers published by Rockstar Games or parent company Take-Two Interactive.

Sensor Tower’s estimate says 74% of the pre-orders are on PlayStation 5. That would put the platform split at roughly 4.8 million copies on PS5 and 1.66 million on Xbox Series X and Series S.

Why the estimate matters

The reported revenue implies that many buyers selected the more expensive edition. Rockstar lists the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 in the United States. Earlier Sensor Tower reporting said pre-orders were heavily tilted toward the Ultimate Edition, which would help explain an average value close to $98 across the estimated orders.

However, the headline numbers remain third-party estimates. Sensor Tower operates a live GTA VI sales tracker, but Take-Two has not released a platform-by-platform count or confirmed the $630 million total.

GTA 6 release date and platforms

Rockstar’s official store lists GTA VI for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. Digital buyers can begin pre-loading on November 12. Boxed versions are also scheduled from that date, but Rockstar says they contain download codes rather than game discs.

Pre-orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack, while digital pre-orders also offer a free month of GTA+. Rockstar has not announced a PC version for launch.

What comes next

The remaining question is whether the estimated pre-order lead converts into a record launch. GTA V arrived in 2013 and has given the sequel an unusually large built-in audience. With roughly a month left before release, confirmed figures from Take-Two will be the stronger benchmark for judging the game’s commercial start.
