Dussehra celebrations in Delhi concluded on a grand note with the burning of effigies of Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhakaran. While the celebrations were held at various places, the highlights were the one where President Droupadi Murmu, along with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, attended at the Dwarka Shri Ram Leela on Tuesday, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in Vijayadashami celebrations at the Indraprastha Ramleela Ground.

President Murmu performed the traditional aarti of Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita before releasing an arrow to set Ravan’s effigy ablaze.
Wishing people on Dussehra, she called on people to imbibe Lord Ram’s qualities, saying his story inspired them to respect nature, protect the environment and care for everyone. The Dwarka Shri Ram Leela featured 90-foot effigies of Ravan, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad.
Addressing the gathering, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Dussehra was a day of joy for Delhi and symbolised not just Lord Ram’s victory over Ravan but also the triumph of good over evil.
“Ravan continues to exist in society in the form of darkness, arrogance, anger, violence against women and corruption,” she said.
Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal attended the Luv Kush Ram Leela celebrations at the Ramlila Maidan near the Red Fort. President Murmu set Ravan’s effigy ablaze. The organisers used green crackers during the celebrations.
