Manipur unrest: Fresh gunfire in Kamjong leaves 1 dead, several injured; houses set ablaze
New Delhi: Fresh violence has been reported in several parts of Manipur with gun attacks and arson incidents leaving at least one person dead and several others injured. Houses belonging to Kuki and Naga communities were reportedly set on fire in Kamjong district while separate firing incidents were reported in Ukhrul and Thoubal.

According to officials, suspected militants attacked Chassad village in Kamjong late on Saturday night and torched at least 15 houses belonging to the Kuki community. Several residents fled to nearby forest areas and an Army camp for safety.
A Kuki civilian was killed and four others sustained bullet injuries when suspected militants attacked the village on Sunday, news agency PTI reported. Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen condemned the violence and expressed grief over the death and concern for the injured and displaced families.
📢 UPDATE:
Ground footage captured by Kuki narco-terrorists shows the complete destruction by fire of Skipe Village, a Tangkhul Naga village located in Kamjong, Manipur, near the Indo-Myanmar border.
In the video, the recorder is clearly speaking in Burmese, strongly pointing to the involvement of the Kuki National Army–Burma (KNA-B) in the violence taking place in Manipur.
Furthermore, when Shri Leishiyo Keishing, MLA of the 43-Phungyar Constituency, recently visited Skipe Village and the surrounding areas, the local police outpost was found completely abandoned.
Question ⁉️
🔹Why are the concerned authorities allowing foreign terrorist groups free rein to occupy Indian soil?
🔹Where is the safety and protection guaranteed to these villagers? We urgently call upon the authorities to conduct an impartial, transparent, and swift investigation to ensure justice and security for the affected civilians and villagers.

Gun attacks and arson reported in Kamjong, Ukhrul
In a separate incident, two people were injured after unidentified armed men opened fire at a car on National Highway 202 in Ukhrul district on Sunday. The incident took place around 11:30 am between Gwaltabi and Mahadev, under Litan police station.
The injured are identified as 35-year-old Sandip Dahal and 29-year-old Bepanah Dahal who are residents of Char Hajar in Kangpokpi district and belong to the Nepali community. They were travelling towards Ukhrul district headquarters when their vehicle came under fire. Their injuries were not serious, according to sources.
The attack has raised fresh concerns over civilian safety along the Imphal-Ukhrul highway. It came nine days after Sandeep Rai, another member of the Nepali community, was killed in an alleged militant ambush near TM Kasom on October 10.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that 13 abandoned houses belonging to members of the Naga community were reportedly burnt in Skipe and Pilong villages in Kamjong district. Pilong had been deserted following a September attack in which four Naga villagers, including a father and son, were killed.
One killed in Thoubal clashes
In another incident, one person was killed and several others injured during clashes between two communities in Thoubal district, PTI reported on Monday. The violence began on Sunday night after a group allegedly threw stones at a ground in Khangabok village, where a concert was taking place.
Stone-pelting followed in Khangabok and Sangaiyumpham with some houses and vehicles set on fire. Police said unidentified people opened fire during the clashes, leaving Laishram Rakesh with a gunshot wound to the head. He later died at a hospital.
Authorities imposed restrictions on residents in both villages and deployed additional state and central security forces. Police said the situation was under control on Monday morning while investigations into the separate attacks and arson incidents continued.
