WhatsApp Set To Introduce Sound Stickers, Let Users Create Their Own

WhatsApp is set to introduce stickers that play audio when tapped allow users to create their own personalised versions. This new feature could make chats more lively and expressive. Now stickers on WhatsApp are used to show emotions, reactions or share memes without typing. With stickers users would be able to tap a sticker and hear a sound adding a new layer to messaging.

The idea is to let users combine existing stickers with clips to make custom sound stickers. This means you could pick a sticker and attach a sound, a joke or a song to it. It’s a way to make messages feel more fun and personal.

The feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta version 2.26.41.3 for Android available, on the Google Play Store. It’s still being worked on. WhatsApp hasn’t said when it will roll out the feature to everyone. For now, it remains in testing.

How WhatsApp sound stickers may work

The reported sound stickers are expected to look similar to regular WhatsApp stickers but will include a short audio track. Once shared, they will appear directly in the conversation, with an audio icon indicating that the sticker contains sound.

Recipients would need to tap the sticker to play its audio, allowing them to enjoy the added effect whenever they choose. This could make everyday conversations more engaging, particularly when users want to express reactions that are difficult to convey through images alone.

The report says that users might be able to mix stickers with clips to make their own creations. This could open up possibilities for customised reactions, animated stickers and other expressive content. I think this will let people show emotion.

The feature is also expected to respect a phones mode helping prevent unexpected sounds from disturbing users. A volume control could let users adjust the audio while WhatsApp may remember their setting, for other sound stickers until they change it. That would keep things quiet when needed.

Privacy is another important aspect of the reported development. Sound stickers are expected to use end-to-end encryption, similar to other WhatsApp messages. This would help keep shared content private, with Meta reportedly unable to access the encrypted content.

WhatsApp is also testing scheduled messages

In a separate development, WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out scheduled messages to some Android beta testers. The feature would allow users to prepare text messages, links, photos and videos and choose when they should be delivered.

As per the reports users can schedule messages from ten minutes up to two weeks ahead. WhatsApp will then send scheduled messages automatically when the time comes even if the app is closed or the phone is offline.

The users may manage or scheduled messages before scheduled messages are sent giving users more control over planned communication.

The scheduled messaging feature is expected to reach beta testers in the coming weeks. The scheduled messaging feature doesn’t have a confirmed rollout date, so users have to wait before these additions become available on their devices.
