NOIDA Airport Will Now Be NAMO International Airport
In a major decision, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to name the NOIDA International Airport after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, the state cabinet approved this proposal in recognition of the special attention given to UP by the Prime Minister in transforming it into a developed state in all respects. He said that during the NDA rule, UP had come out of its negative image of being an unsafe state where land grabbing was the order of the day and gun culture was its main identity.
Under the previous governments, the state was considered to be a backward state with not much development and no industry was willing to invest in the state. Even the culture of the state was ignored, and appeasement politics were top on the agenda.
But after the NDA came to power, the face of UP had changed. Law and order has improved by leaps and bounds, and it has become a safe state, as gun culture has become a thing of the past. UP has become the best destination for investments, and even many defence projects have come to the state. It is also emerging as a hub for IT and has laid emphasis in upliftment of women.
The tough measures adopted by the government have put a check on gun culture, and fear has been instilled in the minds of criminals.
This move of the government is seen as a swift political move by the Yogi government in view of the upcoming Assembly elections.
On the other hand, the Congress and opposition have reacted by saying that changing the name of NOIDA airport will not help Modi in any way. They said people have decided to send Modi home. They, however, refused to say anything further.
All these years, Modi had not allowed his name to be given to any project or government scheme. On the other hand, during Congress regimes, a large number of airports and projects have been named after Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
