Prez to Meet Opposition Delegaton at 8 PM

The plans of the INDIA bloc have been upset by Rashtrapati Bhavan as has given time to meet a small delegation of 10 members at 8 pm today.

The Congress party had planned to meet at the old Parliament Bhavan and sign a memorandum seeking the sacking of Chief Election Commissioner Gyaneshwar Kumar and cancellation of the SIR process. The LoP Rahul Gandhi wanted that all the opposition MPs should march to Rashtrapati Bhavan, while a delegation of 12 to 15 members could meet the President.

However, the Rashtrapati Bhavan is learnt to have told the opposition that the President would be meeting only a delegation of 10 members. The Delhi Police made elaborate arrangements and informed the opposition that there was no permission for the march to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Congress, on a daily basis, has been staging flash protests, causing inconvenience to the citizens.

It now remains to be seen if the opposition MPs will go ahead with the march to Rashtrapati Bhavan or will stage a symbolic protest inside the Parliament premises while the delegation meets the President.

Earlier, the indications were that the President would meet them at 3 pm.

Meanwhile, the BJP criticized the opposition for the protests being held on a daily basis while the matter was under the consideration of the Supreme Court. They also allege that the opposition’s claims of vote chori have been rejected by the people as the results in by-polls in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu had gone against the INDIA bloc members.

The BJP further said that the opposition should first demand the resignation of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for the ‘vote chori’ in ward elections, which was confirmed by the apex court on Thursday. The opposition said that was an administrative mismanagement and CM had nothing to do with the alleged vote chori.

The BJP argued that by that analogy, how can the opposition hold Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for the alleged vote chori in various Assembly and Lok Sabha polls, and how can they demand the resignation of the PM?
