I know who is behind sting operations against me and ministers: CM

New Delhi: Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said he knew who was behind the alleged attempts to conduct sting operations against him and other ministers, as well as who was financing and coordinating such operations.

Speaking to reporters near Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi, Shivakumar said attempts to carry out undercover operations against him had been made after he became Chief Minister and that he had evidence regarding the matter. “I know who is behind these operations, who is providing financial support and how they are being carried out. I am in a responsible position and I do not make statements without basis,” he said.

Asked whether the attempts had begun before or after he became Chief Minister, Shivakumar said he was referring specifically to attempts made after he assumed office. He said he also knew which other leaders were being targeted, but added that he did not want to disclose all the details publicly at this stage.

On whether people from Karnataka or other States were behind the alleged operations, he said he would not reveal everything immediately and would respond when the time was appropriate. Shivakumar said some people had approached him in connection with the alleged operations and that he was ready to release photographs if required. He said he had informed the police after developing doubts about some of those who had approached him and had kept documents ready.

“There is no need to disclose them now. I know who the people behind these operations are. I had warned officials to be careful because attempts were being made to trap them. There is definite information that some leaders have engaged private agents for these operations,” he said.
