Fake voters protected by Congress have faced trouble due to SIR: Basavaraj Bommai
Haveri: For the past 20 years, Congress party members have won elections by casting fake votes, such as a single person voting in two places or using the names of deceased individuals. Now they are facing trouble, which is why Chief Minister DK Shivakumar staged a drama of protesting outside the Election Officer’s office to protect fake votes, alleged former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to the media in Haveri, he stated that the SIR process in the state had been proceeding very smoothly from the beginning. Initially, they had opposed Congress members filling out applications in mosques, but subsequent procedures were supposed to wrap up smoothly. The draft voter list was scheduled to be released on October 8. At such a juncture, Congress members created confusion by staging a protest in front of the Election Officer’s office.
Key leaders from their party met the Election Officer and submitted a memorandum. Now, everything is coming to light according to the law, he said, adding that the state government has no direct authority to file a case against this, as it is entirely the responsibility of the Election Officers. Their clear stance is that, according to the law, only eligible votes must be protected and ineligible votes must be removed, Bommai noted.
Responding to a question regarding the demand for Savanuru taluk to become a separate assembly constituency, he said that the delimitation process must take place strictly according to the rules of the Election Commission. Following that, central and state committees will be formed, and a decision will be made on what the population of an assembly constituency should be. Their request will be considered at that time, he stated.
Responding to a query about AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement demanding the cancellation of all elections held after the commencement of the SIR process, Bommai retorted that Congress has lost everywhere, which is why they are making lame excuses. They should introspect on why their party is losing, he said.
Replying to a question on the demand to suspend Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, he said that Congress and its alliance partners cannot stomach the country’s development. They want to instigate unrest in the country by any means possible, to which the people of the country will not pay any heed, he stated.
