Film chamber celebrates ‘Dasabdi Utsav’

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce celebrated its ‘Dasabdi Utsav’ on Sunday evening at Happy Resorts. On the occasion, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to veteran film artiste and former MP ‘Padma Shri’ M Murali Mohan.

Speaking on the occasion, Murali Mohan said he started both his life’s journey and his acting journey from Vijayawada. He observed that relocating the film industry is not easy as it takes years, and in the meantime, all efforts will be made to conduct shootings in the beautiful locations of Andhra Pradesh. He thanked the Chamber for selecting him for the lifetime achievement award.

Addressing the gathering, Chamber president Ambati Madhumohan Krishna said the Chamber is striving hard to bring the film industry to Andhra Pradesh. He said the Chamber is rendering all possible help to needy producers, distributors and exhibitors, and assured that it will work for the promotion of the film industry in the State.

Noted filmmaker AM Ratnam, Gummadi Gopala Krishna, Chairman of AP Nataka Academy, Komati Jayaram, and Relangi Narasimha Rao were also present on the dais. Famous artiste Laya, actor and producer Konidela Niharika, and artiste Joh Sharma were also felicitated with awards. Awards were also presented to the teams of the films Committee Kurrollu, 35 – Oka Chinna Katha and to other individual artistes.

The event was organised by secretary Mohan Goud and other executive members. G Satyanandini and B Roopa Sri conducted the proceedings energetically. Earlier, cultural programmes were presented – film songs by Kalyani and Satya, classical and folk dances by Padmasri and troupe, Kathak dance by Lekhya Bharani and mimicry by Ramesh.
