Another U-Turn by Mayawati, Nephew Back as BSP Co-Convenor
In less than a month of setting her nephew Akash Anand free and removing him from the party, the Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati took a U-turn and reappointed him as the national convenor of the party.

It may be recalled that on September 10, Mayawati removed Akash from organisational responsibilities citing his failure and said that for him family interests had become more important than the BSP. She also held his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth responsible for Ashok’s “irresponsible behaviour.”
It is learnt that after a lot of backroom negotiations, Akash on October 2, apologised to Mayawati and called her “bua maa” and sought another opportunity to serve the BSP. He said Mayawati was his political mentor.
Following this, “bua maa” decided to reappoint Akash as the party national convenor in the interest of the party and the movement.
“After considerable thought, the party has decided, in the interest of the party and the movement, to once again appoint Akash Anand as the BSP’s national convenor and give him an opportunity to work in the party again,” Mayawati said in a post on X.
This was the third time that the BSP chief had “removed” her nephew from the party.
