West Indies secured a consolation victory by five wickets in the final ODI, despite India winning the series 2-1.

Shai Hope’s exceptional unbeaten century (162*) was instrumental in West Indies achieving their highest-ever ODI run chase.

The match was dominated by batsmen, with multiple centuries and significant contributions from both sides, indicating a poor day for the bowlers.

Mullanpur: West Indies beat India by 5 wickets in the final One Day International of the three-match series here on Saturday. Skipper Shai Hope, with an unbeaten 162 off 143 balls, led Windies to a consolation victory against the hosts, who sealed the series 2-1, courtesy of wins at Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati.

In a match which turned out to be another favourable day for batters, India’s KL Rahul (129 not out off 87 balls), Rohit Sharma (92 off 85 balls) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (57 off 69) took India to another big total of 351/7.

He was helped by teammates Amir Jangoo, who scored 67 off 56, and Keemo Paul, who scored 44 off 35 deliveries, to put the game to bed with 10 balls to spare in West Indies’ highest-ever run chase in ODI cricket.

The bowling units of both sides had a day to forget, especially India’s Anshul Kamboj, who had a disappointing debut, finishing on the expensive side without a wicket.
