`BJP workers to offer prayers for Capt Smit Machchhar’s recovery
Bengaluru : BJP workers across Karnataka will offer special prayers at temples on Saturday seeking the speedy recovery of Capt. Smit Machchhar, who has been credited by the party with saving passengers aboard a FlyDubai aircraft, senior BJP leader N. Ravi Kumar said on Friday.

In a statement, Ravi Kumar, Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, said BJP workers would conduct special poojas in Capt. Machchhar’s name at temples across the state.
Ravi Kumar said Machchhar had displayed courage, presence of mind and timely action in an incident involving the aircraft, and claimed that his actions helped save the lives of 180 passengers.
He said the pilot’s actions had brought recognition to Indians in the country and abroad. “Capt. Smit Machchhar has emerged as a hero of the skies through his performance and sense of duty,” Ravi Kumar said, adding that BJP workers would pray for his speedy recovery. The prayers are scheduled to be held on Saturday at temples in different parts of Karnataka, according to the statement
