INDIA Bloc Meeting: Another Attempt to Re-launch Rahul – BJP
While the exposure of the differences between the three Election Commissioners regarding amendments to Form 6 had given a new lease of life to the otherwise fractured and fragmented INDIA bloc which on Wednesday came up with a massive action plan that could cause embarrassment to the ruling party, the BJP claimed that the opposition group was crumbling and that they had rejected the leadership of LoP Rahul Gandhi.

“Leave the INDIA bloc aside; even Congress leaders and members of the party are not willing to accept Rahul Gandhi as their leader. Rahul himself, during Congress Working Committee meetings, keeps pleading: ‘Accept me as your leader, trust me’,” Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters in Delhi. He was reacting to the meeting of the INDIA bloc held today to finalise the programme of a series of agitations against the ECI and alleged that the Modi government was resorting to a “vote chori gameplan” during every election to remain in power.
But BJP feels that it is “Zero vision, 100 per cent frustration, and advance excuse for poll defeats are the outcome of the INDIA bloc meet.” The party spokesperson said “The INDIA alliance fell apart even before the meeting took place. The DMK is not attending the meeting. Akhilesh is busy elsewhere. The AAP had already declined.” The proposed agitation is to save ‘Congress dynasty’, not to save democracy. Chouhan said it is yet another attempt to launch re-launch Rahul Gandhi.
But, he said, the opposition parties were not ready to accept him as leader. The Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav did not attend the meeting; UBT Shiv Sena participated virtually; this shows that they are not accepting the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
The minister said the opposition was trying to resort to street drama over the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists underway in India. “An accurate voter list is the soul of democracy, and if incorrect names are included in it, democracy will perish. I want to ask the Congress party what objection could you possibly have to the removal of the name of someone who is no longer alive from the voter list?” Chouhan said.
“What is the problem if a name is removed from one location in cases of duplication? Why should the name of someone who is not even a citizen of the country be included in the voter list?” The Minister asked.
