Rabies awareness prog held for students

Nagarkurnool: Anawareness programme was conducted for students at Mantati village in Nagarkurnool mandal by the Animal Husbandry Department on World Rabies Day. The programme focused on creating awareness about regular vaccination of dogs and cats.

Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Dr T Kalpana said, “Rabies is a fatal viral disease and can be almost 100 per cent fatal once symptoms appear. The disease is mainly transmitted through dog bites but can be prevented through timely vaccination.” Dr Kalpana advised people to wash an animal-bite wound immediately with soap and water for at least 15 minutes and visit the nearest hospital without delay for anti-rabies vaccination.
