India to Launch Qdenga the First Approved Dengue Vaccine in 2027
Qdenga, Takeda’s dengue vaccine will be available in India in the half of 2027. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company announced on Friday, September 18 2026 that they have signed a distribution agreement. Under that agreement Dr. Reddy’s will distribute Qdenga in the Indian private market for children and adults. The companies said the vaccine will be available in the half of 2027 subject to the completion of relevant processes, with local authorities.

Qdenga is the dengue vaccine that was approved in India. In July 2026 Qdenga got marketing approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation approved Qdenga for people who’re 4 years old, to 60 years old.
Although having it in India’s public vaccination program is a goal for the future, it will be possible for some people to get the vaccine through the private market when it is available, said Takeda. The vaccine will be available, through Dr. Reddys. This will give people who’re eligible a way to get the vaccine once it is ready.
Through this partnership, Takeda and Dr. Reddy’s will work together to connect with doctors and increase knowledge about the disease. They will also help sell and get Qdenga into the private market for children and adults. They will do this while following all the rules that’re in place now. “Our partnership with Dr. Reddy’s in the market will help people get Qdenga quickly when it is available in India, ” said Dr. Mahender Nayak, Head of Intercontinental Markets, for Takeda’s International Business Unit.
He welcomed the recommendation from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health to add a dengue vaccine to the Universal Immunization Programme. This recommendation shows that dengue is now seen as a public health challenge. “We believe that the introduction of the dengue vaccine approved in India represents a big step forward for the country’s healthcare. Through our partnership with Takeda we are excited to make Qdenga available to those who qualify and to help reduce the impact of dengue across the nation, ” said MV Ramana, CEO of Dr. Reddy’s Global Generics division.
Dr. Reddy’s will be the partner responsible for promoting and distributing the vaccine in the private market. This includes both adult vaccinations. Takeda keeps the rights to promote and distribute Qdenga in India’s market. Takeda also holds ownership of Qdenga. They have control over medical oversight and the overall branding of Qdenga, in the country.
Qdenga (TAK-003) is a vaccine that has been made strong so it can help the body build protection. It is made from a DENV-2 type of virus. This vaccine includes parts from the DENV-1, DENV-3 and DENV-4 types of viruses. This helps the body fight all four types of dengue viruses. The vaccine is given in two shots. The time between the two shots is three months.
Dengue still stands as a changing health problem in India. Dengue cases have grown eleven times in the twenty years. A big dengue watch study carried out by the Indian Council of Medical Research’s Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory shows that all four dengue virus types-DENV‑1, DENV‑2, DENV‑3 DENV‑4-are found at the time in many parts of the country. Dengue also shows that one in fourteen people has more than one dengue type at once according to the companies, in a joint statement.
