Historic agreement between America and Iran, will ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz have to pay toll tax?
A very historic news has come out, giving great relief to the world economy and global trade. A historic peace agreement has been signed on Thursday to end forever the fierce conflict, tension and war situation that has been going on for the last several months between America and Iran. The main objective of this very important agreement is to extend the period of ceasefire between the two superpowers and to restart the smooth movement of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, the most important route for international trade. After this grand deal, the biggest question now arising among the commodity markets and shipping companies around the world is whether commercial ships will have to pay any toll or fee to pass through the Strait of Hormuz or not? The rules regarding this matter are completely clear.
What is the new rule for ships passing through Hormuz? In the official statement issued by the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, very clear things have been said regarding the new administration of the Strait of Hormuz. This arrangement will remain in full force at least for the next 60 days before the final agreement is signed. It has been made clear in this agreement that ships of any country passing through Hormuz will not have to pay any toll tax or fees. This entire arrangement has been decided under clause number five of the new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries.
According to the new rules, even though ships will not have to pay any financial payment or fees to pass through Hormuz, they will have to adopt a new route for security reasons. From now on all ships will be directed to this route To go through, an official request will have to be sent to the new administration named 'Persian Gulf Strait Administration'. This new administration has been entrusted with the entire responsibility of processing all those requests, providing proper guidance to ships at sea and giving necessary clearances to cross the strait safely. From the first day of implementation of this agreement, Iran is clearly declaring its strategic leverage and control over the Strait of Hormuz. What was decided in the Iran-America conflict?
