Meat sale, animal slaughter banned on Janmashtami
Bengaluru: Animal slaughter and sale of meat will be completely prohibited across the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits on September 4 in view of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

The Deputy Director of the GBA Animal Husbandry Department has issued an order imposing the one-day ban and directed the public and meat shop owners to strictly comply with it. The order applies to slaughterhouses as well as meat shops across the GBA jurisdiction. The ban on animal slaughter and meat sale during major religious and national festivals, as well as on the birth anniversaries of prominent personalities who advocated non-violence, has been a practice followed by the GBA and other municipal bodies in Karnataka.
