Woman found dead sitting on chair at home
Kanpur: A 60-year-old woman who initially appeared to be sitting quietly on a chair at her Kanpur home was found to have been murdered, with police suspecting strangulation during a possible robbery attempt.

Uma Kushwaha was found dead at her Hasanpur home in Keshavpuram on Tuesday night. A dark bluish mark around her neck indicated possible strangulation, while household articles were found scattered.
The incident came to light around 10 pm when a tenant went to switch on the submersible pump and saw Uma sitting on a chair. When she failed to respond, the tenant alerted Uma’s husband, Shivmangal Kushwaha, who runs a book stall. Shivmangal initially believed his wife had suffered a cardiac arrest. He later noticed the mark on her neck and the disturbed belongings. Police and forensic teams reached the house around 11 pm. There were no clear signs of forced entry or a break-in.
Police said it was too early to determine whether robbery was the motive. The amount of cash or valuables missing was also being ascertained.
