Firefighters rescue toddler with head trapped in pot

Brahmapur: For Bidyadhar Pradhan family of Ranibara village under Rambha police station, Thursday night turned into a nightmare when their two-year-old son, Trilochan, found himself trapped inside an aluminium pot while playing. His desperate cries and laboured breathing left his family terrified. Fortunately, a six-man Rambha firefighting team intervened, executing a tense rescue with a cutter, immense courage, and utmost caution.

Trilochan, son of Bidyadhar Pradhan of Rambha, had reportedly pushed his head into the aluminium vessel while playing. But when he tried to pull it out, his head got stuck. The family struggled for several hours to free the child, trying every possible way to remove the vessel. Their anxiety mounted as the little boy continued crying and faced difficulty in breathing.

The family then rushed him to Rambha Hospital for emergency help. However, as it was late at night, there was no doctor. With no time to lose, they took the child to the Rambha Fire Station.

The firefighters immediately took charge of the delicate rescue. Since any forceful attempt could have injured the child, the personnel carefully planned the operation and began cutting the aluminium vessel with a metal cutter.

It was a tense and challenging operation. The frightened child kept crying while the firefighters worked with utmost precision, mindful of his breathing and the risk of injury. Slowly and carefully, they cut through the vessel until the little boy’s head was finally freed.

The moment Trilochan was freed, it brought immense relief to his family and the villagers who thanked the Fire Brigade officials. The child is now safe and healthy, sources said. The incident has drawn attention to the often-unpredictable nature of the duties performed by Fire personnel. From battling major fires to rescuing people trapped in unusual circumstances, firefighters frequently become unexpected lifelines during moments of crisis.

For the Pradhan family, the frightening episode ended with a priceless sight—their little son safe in their midst. What began as a child’s innocent game ended as a race against time, and it was the calm courage of the firefighters that brought the family’s nightmare to a safe end.
