BJP’s Santosh begins two-day visit to Punjab

Chandigarh: Senior BJP leader B L Santosh began his two-day visit to Punjab on Monday to review the party’s organisational functioning and to strengthen coordination and preparedness at the grassroots level in the poll-bound state.

Assembly elections are due in Punjab early next year. Santosh, the national general secretary (organisation), was welcomed by Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon and state BJP co-in-charge Narinder Singh Raina at the Chandigarh airport.

He is set to hold a series of zonal meetings with BJP leaders and organisational functionaries across the state, according to a party statement. On Monday, Santosh will chair meetings at Patiala and Bathinda.

The Patiala meeting will bring together representatives from Mohali, Patiala North, Patiala Urban, Patiala South, Fatehgarh Sahib and Sangrur, and the Bathinda meeting will cover Barnala, Mansa, Bathinda Rural, Bathinda Urban, Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka and Faridkot, according to the statement. On Tuesday, the organisational meetings will continue in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar.

In the Ludhiana meeting, representatives from Ludhiana Rural, Ludhiana Urban, Moga, Jagraon, Khanna, Malerkotla and Ropar will participate. The Jalandhar meeting will include leaders from Jalandhar North, Jalandhar Urban, Jalandhar South, Hoshiarpur Urban, Hoshiarpur Rural, Nawashahar and Kapurthala. The final zonal meeting will be held in Amritsar, covering Amritsar Urban, Amritsar Rural I and II, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Batala, Pathankot and Ferozepur.
