10 Years of UPI: PM Modi Celebrates India’s Digital Payment Boom

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the ten‑year anniversary of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the size and reach of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has become a step for digital payments, across India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also encouraged people to share how the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has changed their lives.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi noted that the launch of UPI 10 years ago marked a “major turning point” in India’s path toward the digitisation of payments.

“A decade ago, UPI was launched, marking a major turning point in India’s digital payments journey. The massive scale and reach of UPI are a source of pride for every Indian. Tell me about your experience with UPI and how it has impacted your life…”

UPI has become a used digital payments platform, in India and UPI allows users to transfer money instantly from their mobile devices.

This 10-year milestone shows how digital payments spread across the country. UPI is now a part of everyday transactions. UPI is a part of daily life.
