iPhone 18 Pro Launching Soon: New Colours, A20 Pro Chip and Expected Price

Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro launch may be only 15 days away, though the company has not yet confirmed a date. Industry rumours suggest Apple could unveil its next flagship smartphone lineup on September 9, setting the stage for one of its biggest annual hardware events.

The expected launch could include the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with Apple’s first book-style foldable iPhone. New Apple Watch models and refreshed AirPods are also believed to be part of the event lineup. The upcoming Pro models are expected to feature fresh colour choices, a new-generation processor, larger batteries and camera-related changes. However, none of these details has been officially confirmed so far.

New Colours Expected

The iPhone 18 Pro series could arrive in a few new shades, giving Apple’s premium lineup a noticeably different appearance. Reports suggest the phones may be offered in dark cherry, light blue and silver colour options. The usual black finish, however, may not return this time. If that happens, it would mark a notable change for buyers who usually prefer Apple’s darker Pro models.

In terms of design, Apple may stick with a familiar approach. The front of the device may see a more visible change. Apple is reportedly working on reducing the size of the Dynamic Island, which could give users a little more usable screen space while retaining the feature’s core functionality.

A20 Pro Chip Upgrade

The biggest performance upgrade could come from Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip. The processor is expected to power both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. According to rumours, the A20 Pro could be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process. That shift may help Apple deliver faster performance while also improving energy efficiency, which could benefit demanding tasks such as gaming, video editing and AI-powered features. Some reports claim the A20 Pro may be around 18 per cent faster than the A19 Pro, while consuming up to 30 per cent less power. The new Pro models are also expected to retain 12GB of RAM and could feature Apple’s new C2 modem.

Battery and Camera Changes

Battery life may receive a meaningful improvement, particularly on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The eSIM-only version is rumoured to include a 5,425mAh battery, while the physical-SIM variant could get a 5,235mAh battery. These capacities would represent a considerable step up from the reported battery sizes of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Still, the final battery specifications will only be known once Apple announces the devices. On the camera side, Apple is expected to continue with three 48-megapixel rear cameras. However, the company could introduce larger changes below the surface.

One major rumour points to variable aperture technology, which may give users greater control over the amount of light entering the sensor. This could improve photography in challenging lighting conditions and provide more flexibility for advanced users. There is also speculation about a new camera sensor. The iPhone 18 Pro Max may receive certain camera features that are not offered on the smaller iPhone 18 Pro.

India Price Expectations

The expected upgrades may come with a higher price tag. Apple could increase iPhone 18 Pro prices as component costs continue to rise. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is considering a price increase, potentially taking the US starting price of the iPhone 18 Pro to around $1,199.

For Indian buyers, that may translate into an increase of roughly Rs 10,000. Some reports have suggested the hike could reach Rs 20,000, depending on the chosen model and storage configuration. For now, these details remain rumours and speculation. Apple has not confirmed the launch date, specifications, colours or prices, but the answers may arrive soon.
