Shakalaka Shankar’s ‘Merangi Junction’ completes talkie shooting

The upcoming investigative thriller ‘Merangi Junction’, starring Shakalaka Shankar in the lead, has completed its talkie shooting. The film, presented by Master Divyansh under the Yuvan Touring Talkies banner, is now moving ahead with its post-production work.

Directed by Shiva Ganesh, the film features Sahithi Dasari, Vineetha Kandala, Sampath, Prabhakar and Radha Kohinoor in key roles. It is jointly produced by Ravi Krishna Gollu, Rajesh Gangunayuni, Peddinti Mohana Rao, Chokkapu Ramulamma and Seera Ganapathi Naidu.

The makers completed the talkie portions and two songs during a continuous 47-day shooting schedule. Only one song and an action sequence remain to be filmed, while the team has already begun work on the post-production.

‘Merangi Junction’ is said to be inspired by real incidents that took place near the Odisha border, in a town named Merangi. Shakalaka Shankar plays a police officer posted in an agency area. According to the makers, his character follows a realistic approach to investigation, adding intensity to the thriller. The film is expected to feature several twists and turns, with the makers promising a gripping screenplay from the opening sequence through the climax. Music composer Ajay Patnaik has scored the title track along with a melody titled “Neela Veni”. Cinematographer Kiran Chebroolu has captured the rugged agency locations, which are expected to add to the film’s suspenseful atmosphere. With the remaining portions to be completed soon, the makers are planning to bring ‘Merangi Junction’ to theatres in the final months of 2026.
