No higher purpose than wearing military uniform: Annamalai urges Gen Z to join armed forces
Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu): Asserting that today’s youth lack a definitive direction in life, former BJP state president K Annamalai on Monday said there is “no higher purpose” than wearing a military uniform.

Speaking at a book launch event for Major Madhan Kumar here, Annamalai targeted his remarks at the younger demographic, commonly referred to as ‘Generation Z’. He characterised the current generation as searching for meaning but remaining somewhat aimless without the framework of military service. “As Gen Z, you need a grand purpose; you are looking for a grand purpose in life today,” Annamalai, who started the organisation ‘We The Leaders’ recently, stated during his address.
He further suggested that personal ambitions pale in comparison to national defence, telling the youth, “If you want a purpose, the uniform gives you the highest purpose”. While urging the youth to step up, he said, “Gen Z, if you want to join the Indian Army as a soldier or a leader, you should view the uniformed services as a credible option.”
