‘Jo khelega woh khilega’: Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets India’s CWG 2026 medallists
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met with India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 medallists and congratulated them for their outstanding performances at the Glasgow Games.

Modi interacted with all the CWG medallists and lauded their hard work, determination, and commitment to represent India on the international stage. He also called for continued support for the athletes across sporting disciplines, stressing the need to build a strong sporting culture that inspires more young people to take up sport.
“Jo Khelega Woh Khilega” has been a recurring message from PM Modi on the importance of sports and greater participation among India’s youth. He has previously used the phrase while highlighting the country’s changing sporting culture and the need to provide more opportunities for young athletes.

“Those who play, will flourish. Always cheer for Bharat. Bharat Mata Ki Jai!” PM Modi posted on Instagram.
Boxer Sakshi Choudhary, who won the gold medal in the 2026 Games, spoke about the importance of meeting the Prime Minister and said that it was a wonderful experience for them.
“We, all the Commonwealth Games medallists, were invited by our honourable Prime Minister. We feel extremely proud, and it was a wonderful experience meeting him. He is very humble, and we were very happy to meet him,” Sakshi said in the video.
Boxing led India’s medal charge
Boxing contributed the most in India’s medal tally, with the contingent clinching a total of 10 medals, including seven golds. It was the country’s best-ever performance in boxing at a Commonwealth Games, with Indian women boxers claiming five of the seven gold medals.
Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh won gold medals in Judo, giving India two golds in the sport at the same edition of the Commonwealth Games for the first time.
