Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 OTT release: Where and when to watch

New Delhi: If you are looking for something new to watch this week, two very different titles are arriving on OTT platforms. Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 returns with Amitabh Bachchan as host, while A24’s psychological sci-fi horror film Backrooms makes its subscription OTT debut.

From a high-stakes quiz show promising a Rs 7 crore jackpot to an eerie maze where time bends and an unknown entity lurks, here is where and when to watch both titles.

Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 OTT release

Amitabh Bachchan is returning as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati for its 18th season. The new season will premiere on August 10, with contestants from across India taking the hot seat and attempting increasingly difficult questions for a chance to win the Rs 7 crore jackpot.

The season comes with the theme ‘Sochna Padega’, which focuses on the practical application and critical evaluation of knowledge rather than simply relying on memorised facts. The theme also reflects the changing relationship between knowledge and technology in the age of artificial intelligence and smartphones.

  • Streaming date: August 10, 2026
  • Where to watch: Sony LIV
  • Airtime: 9 pm
  • Frequency: Monday to Friday
  • Host: Amitabh Bachchan

Bachchan has remained the face of Kaun Banega Crorepati for most of its run since the show debuted in 2000. The only exception came during Season 3 in 2007, when Shah Rukh Khan took over as host.

The latest season’s registration process, which began in late July, has now closed.

Aamir Khan, Preity Zinta and Sunny Deol to feature in KBC 18 premiere

The new season is also set to open on a star-studded note, with Aamir Khan, Preity Zinta and Sunny Deol appearing on the Kaun Banega Crorepati hot seat. The actors will be promoting their upcoming film Batwara 1947 during the Season 18 premiere.

A newly released promo gives a glimpse of the exchange between Aamir and Amitabh Bachchan, with the former picking up on the season’s ‘Sochna Padega’ theme.

“Aapne kaha hain aapke promo main ‘Sochna Padega,’ toh kya sochna padega?” Aamir asks Bachchan, referring to the line from the show’s promotional campaign.

Bachchan responds with a sharp look and his trademark wit: “Itna aasan nahi honewala hain, kyunki sochna padta hai na bhaisahab.”

Aamir then agrees with him, quipping, “Sochna Padega, Sir waakai sochna padega.”
