Yash hits back at Kiara Advani trolls over Toxic scenes: ‘Whatever you believe in, do’
New Delhi: Kiara Advani’s intimate scenes in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups have already sparked plenty of chatter online, but Yash has now come out in the actor’s defence. Speaking at the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru, the actor praised Kiara’s commitment to the project and appeared to address the criticism surrounding her scenes.
The much-awaited trailer was unveiled at a grand event on Saturday, attended by media representatives from across the country. Yash later took the stage to speak about his co-stars, with his comments on Kiara standing out.
Yash praises Kiara, responds to trolling
Yash lauded Kiara for surrendering herself to director Geetu Mohandas’ vision and described her performance as only a glimpse of what the film has to offer.
Praising her dedication, he said they had initially wondered whether bringing several actors together could lead to “so many issues”, but Kiara surprised everyone with her approach to the role.
According to Yash, she was “so down to earth” from the beginning and completely “dedicated herself and surrendered to this vision” through her performance.
Kiara plays Nadia, a circus performer in Toxic. The film had already generated discussion around her character after the teaser and the song Tabaahi featured intimate moments between Nadia and Yash’s character. The scenes subsequently became a target of online trolling, with some social media users criticising the actor.
Yash appeared to have that criticism in mind when he urged Kiara not to let outside reactions dictate her choices.
“Whatever you believe in, you should do,” he said, adding that people would eventually “celebrate” and “appreciate” such choices.
The actor then offered a more pointed observation about the criticism, saying, “It’s just that we are a little ahead of times.”
What to expect from Toxic
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is a pan-India action thriller starring Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi.
The film, titled Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English and is set to reach audiences in dubbed Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions.
The newly released trailer offers a glimpse of Yash in a dual role, portraying both a father and his son. It also hints at a violent confrontation between the two characters, although the makers have kept the larger story under wraps.
