DC Box Office Collection Day 2: Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film picks up pace, worldwide gross at Rs 17.99 cr

New Delhi: Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut DC appears to be picking up momentum at the box office. After opening at Rs 4.40 crore net in India, the action film recorded a significant jump on Saturday, taking its Day 2 collection to Rs 6.70 crore. The latest numbers represent a 52.3 per cent increase over its opening-day figure and give the film a stronger footing heading into the rest of its first weekend.

According to Sacnilk, DC has now collected Rs 11.10 crore net in India across its first two days. Its domestic gross stands at Rs 12.74 crore, while the film has also received a boost from overseas markets.

DC witnesses strong Saturday growth

A total of 3,549 shows were recorded for DC across India on Saturday. Tamil emerged as the biggest contributor, with the version collecting Rs 4.55 crore net.

The Telugu version added Rs 1.75 crore, while the Hindi release contributed Rs 40 lakh. Together, the three versions took the film’s Day 2 India net tally to Rs 6.70 crore.

Tamil also recorded the strongest audience response in terms of occupancy. The version registered 63.33 per cent overall occupancy, beginning the day at 45.31 per cent. Afternoon shows climbed to 67.38 per cent, while evening occupancy stood at 51.85 per cent. Night shows performed the best, reaching 80.38 per cent.

The Telugu version recorded 42.45 per cent overall occupancy, while the Hindi version stood at 12.84 per cent.

Tamil Nadu leads domestic earnings

State-wise figures show Tamil Nadu continuing to play a major role in DC’s theatrical performance. The film recorded a gross collection of Rs 2.40 crore in the state on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed Rs 2.25 crore, followed by Kerala at Rs 1.30 crore and Karnataka at Rs 1.15 crore. The rest of India added another Rs 60 lakh.

These figures take the film’s combined state-wise gross collection for Day 2 to Rs 7.70 crore.

Overseas business takes worldwide total higher

The international market also contributed significantly to DC’s growing tally. The film grossed Rs 3 crore overseas on its second day, taking its cumulative international earnings to Rs 5.25 crore.

With Rs 12.74 crore coming from the Indian market in gross terms, DC has reached a worldwide gross of Rs 17.99 crore after two days.

The sharp Saturday rise has given Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film a much-needed boost after its opening day, setting up a stronger run through the remainder of the weekend.
