Telangana pair Arjun Reddy, Achutaditya Rao break into BWF top 100

Hyderabad: P. Arjun Reddy and Achutaditya Rao of Telangana have broken into the top 100 of the BWF world rankings in men’s doubles on the back of their consistent performances over the last year, during which they won five international medals, including one gold, three silver and a bronze.

Arjun and Aditya are the first men’s doubles pair from Telangana to achieve the feat.

The duo won gold at the Mexico International, silver medals at the Zambia, Trinidad & Tobago and Peru international tournaments, and a bronze at the South Africa International after starting to play together late last year.

Arjun, 43, who owns the A Zone Elite Badminton Academy in Kondapur here, and Aditya, 24, secured direct entry into the Korea Masters 2026 based on these performances.

Arjun said the idea behind starting the academy was to provide a platform for badminton talent to dream big and achieve their goals at the highest level.

“I wish my father, late PC Reddy, founder of Silpa Homes Pvt Ltd, were here to witness this beautiful stadium, the achievements of the trainees here and my own contribution to the sport,” Arjun said.

“I owe everything to my brother Aswin Reddy, MD of Aparna Enterprises, who quit the sport, which we were playing together, to take care of the construction business as per my father’s wish. I also owe a lot to my wife, Ditya Reddy, and other family members, including my uncle PS Reddy, president of Naredco India, who takes care of us as his own children and encourages sports a lot,” Arjun said.

The two train together at the academy along with several other budding talents. They hope to keep improving with each tournament and are targeting a place in the top 50 by next year.
