Yoga medallists honoured at renovated Senior Citizens Welfare Hall in KPHB

Hyderabad: The beaming faces of yoga medallists across different age groups said it all.

The renovated Senior Citizens Welfare Counselling Hall in KPHB Colony, funded by local MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, who also inaugurated the facility, became the venue for a touching felicitation ceremony for yoga medallists ranging from a six-year-old to those aged 60-plus.

The gesture was aimed at inspiring more youngsters and senior citizens to become champions in the days to come.

International yoga master CM Ramakrishna was also felicitated on the occasion.

Among the medallists who won medals representing India at an international yoga competition in Malaysia were V. Sai Raghavendra, M. Jaswanth Kumar, T. Jhansi Mohana and KVM Reddy.

While the yoga medallists were honoured, the occasion also highlighted the new spacious hall, which can accommodate around 10 carrom boards and could become a hub of carrom activity in the days to come.

“We are grateful to our MLA and all the members and office-bearers involved in putting this beautiful venue right in the middle of a residential colony,” was the near-unanimous opinion of the senior citizens, whose passion for sports, especially carrom, is well known. They have already hosted a major event in the past.

“We hope this will usher in a new chapter in promoting carrom, yoga and chess in this region. It is always great to see such warmth, affection and passion to promote sports among senior citizens such as Messrs Sivasankar Reddy, Sadasiva Reddy, Koteswara Rao Venkataiah, Radhakrishna and KVM Reddy, who are also the office-bearers of the SCWC,” said BK Haranath, founder-president of Hyderabad.
