Rishabh Pant appeals to Uttarakhand CM to buy land, plans to shift base from Delhi

New Delhi: Rishabh Pant has sought help from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as he looks to buy land and move his base from Delhi to his native state. The India wicketkeeper-batter said he has been trying to find suitable land for the past three years.

Pant made the request in a post on X early on Saturday morning, tagging Dhami directly. The 28-year-old, who is currently with the Indian team in Sri Lanka said his intention was to return to his roots and eventually contribute to the state.

“I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here. I love my Uttarakhand,” Pant wrote.

He then asked the Chief Minister to look into his situation and help him with the acquisition process.

“My humble request to you is please help me in land acquisition… I wanna move back to my native place to help and build around Uttarakhand and I want to shift back to my Pahadi people. Please look into this matter, it’s been 3 years,” he said.

Dhami assures Pant of help

Dhami responded to Pant’s post and said the state government would provide all possible assistance within the rules. He also praised the cricketer for wanting to return to his home state after establishing himself at the highest level.

“Dear Rishabh, you are the pride of Uttarakhand. With your splendid performance and achievements, you have illuminated the name of Devbhoomi in the country and the world,” Dhami wrote.

He added, “Your love for your motherland and your sentiment of returning here to contribute are highly commendable.”

Dhami also said officials had been instructed to contact Pant and help him with the matter. “Regarding the matter you have raised, instructions are being issued to the concerned officials. They will soon contact you and ensure all possible cooperation in accordance with the rules,” the Chief Minister said.

‘Not a gift’

Pant also clarified that he was not asking the government to give him land for free. He said he was willing to purchase the property at the applicable government rates.

“A gift would be lovely for representing our state at the highest level internationally, but if you allow me I wanna buy it from Government and on their rates,” Pant wrote.

Born in Roorkee in Haridwar district, Pant began his cricket journey in Uttarakhand before moving to Delhi to pursue the sport professionally. His connection with the state has remained strong despite representing Delhi in domestic cricket.

Pant is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian squad ahead of the two-Test series, which will begin on August 15. His latest appeal to Dhami could now bring an end to his three-year search for a place to build his first home in Uttarakhand.
