25 visually impaired runners join 3,000+ at Sprintfest 2026

Bengaluru: It was a run that brought together determination, inclusion and a shared purpose. More than 3,000 participants, including 25 visually impaired runners, took part in The Brigade Schools SPRINTFEST 2026 in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Organised by Brigade Foundation and The Brigade Schools, the second edition of the student-led charity run featured 1K, 3K, 5K and 10K categories. 10 visually impaired runners competed in the 10K competitive run, while 15 participated in the 1K run, supported by guides.

The event brought together school students, families, professional runners, para-athletes and members of the public, turning the city’s streets into a celebration of inclusive sport.

Held under the theme “A Passion with Compassion,” SprintFest seeks to promote health and fitness while supporting the education and healthcare needs of marginalised children. Proceeds from the event will contribute towards these initiatives.

The event was conceptualised and coordinated with the active involvement of senior students and staff of The Brigade Schools, under the guidance of Brigade Foundation. The initiative gives students an opportunity to take on leadership roles while contributing to a larger social cause.

The Brand Ambassador of SprintFest 2026 and Joint Managing Director, Brigade Group, Nirupa Shankar lent her support to the initiative, which continues to bring together the school community and the wider public for a cause beyond sport.

The Founder, The Brigade Schools, Githa Shankar said, “SprintFest has always been about more than running. It is about passion with compassion — encouraging our students to embrace empathy, leadership and social responsibility while promoting health and fitness. The participation of 25 visually impaired runners this year was particularly inspiring. Their determination showed us that there are no barriers when there is a will to move forward.

We are proud that SprintFest continues to unite the community for a meaningful cause and support the health and education of marginalised children.”

The run was flagged off from St. Joseph’s Indian High School Grounds, with the route passing through Cubbon Park, and finishing back at the school grounds. With thousands running side by side, SprintFest 2026 was a powerful reminder that every stride can create an opportunity for change.
