151 held in four-day crackdown on street crime

New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested and apprehended 151 people during a four-day enforcement drive in east Delhi targeting street crime, illegal arms, drugs, gambling and other criminal activities, an officer said on Saturday.

“Operation Aaghat” was conducted from August 17 to 20 across the district, with police teams carrying out intensive patrolling, vehicle checking, surveillance and CCTV-based investigations, a senior police officer said. Twenty-nine cases were registered under the Arms Act and 29 people arrested, with police recovering pistols, country-made firearms, 11 live cartridges and 21 knives.

Police also registered 32 cases under the Gambling Act and apprehended 63 people, recovering Rs 23,131, the officer said.
